Nouel Riel is a Los Angeles–based filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist working across directing, screenwriting, performance, painting, film photography, poetry, and sculpture. Her work explores embodied memory, dream states, ritual, and spiritual transformation through visually driven, psychologically intimate storytelling.

A former high-level competitive gymnast, Riel received a full-ride scholarship to the University of Minnesota before earning her BFA from Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Her paintings and photographs have been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, Santa Fe, and London,

Her directorial debut, Carpet Blue, is a short film she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, exploring the body as a vessel for memory, transformation, and rebirth. Carpet Blue has screened at the Atlanta Women’s Film Festival and Ashland International Film Festival’s Local Lens Spotlight. She is currently developing Carpet Blue as her her first narrative feature.
